OUR LEADERS

Bro. James Porter is the 11th President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Kappa Mu Sigma Alumni Chapter in Bloomington/Normal IL. James was initiated into the Fraternity through the Xi Iota Chapter at Southeast Missouri State University on April 3, 1990. Throughout his 30 years of service to the fraternity, James has been instrumental and committed to living by the Fraternity motto, Culture for Service and Service for Humanity. James is a dedicated servant-leader in both the fraternity and the community.

 

James earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He also earned a Master of Arts and his Master of Business Administration degrees from Webster University-St. Louis.

 

James has two sons James III and Marcellus and is happily married to his wife Pamela.

Bro. James William Shaw, Jr. became a member of the Kappa Mu Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated in November of 2015.  James currently is the Vice President of the chapter.  This is his fourth year as the coordinator, with assistance from the current chapter President James Porter, of the chapter’s Adopt-A-School program.  For that program he plans supplemental reading lessons, math lessons, oratory lessons (which is implemented by Brother James Joyner), and social skill discussions for third through fifth grade male students at Glenn Elementary School in Normal, Illinois.  James previously was a member of the Scholarship Committee for two years.  He is truly proud to be a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Kappa Mu Sigma Chapter.
